How to Get Listed (and Get Found!)
- Claim Your Google Business Profile: This is the most important one! Make sure it’s complete and accurate.
- Find the Big Directories: Yelp, Yellow Pages, Bing Places, Apple Maps, and the Better Business Bureau are good places to start.
- Look for Local and Niche Directories: Is there a directory for businesses in your town? Or for your specific industry (like restaurants or plumbers)? Get listed!
- Be Consistent: Use the exact same business name, address, and phone number on every directory. Google hates it when things don’t match!
- Add Details: Don’t just list your name and address. Add photos, your website, your hours, a description of your business, and even customer reviews!
- Keep it Updated: If anything changes (your address, your hours, etc.), update your listings right away.
